The Prophets- Messengers Of God

Muslims believe in one almighty creator, who is omnipotent, compassionate, and merciful. In his mercy, he sends guidance to mankind on how to properly worship him and live our lives. Islam teaches that God sends prophets to the nations, in different times and different places, to communicate his message. Since the beginning of time, God has sent his guidance through these chosen people. They were human beings who walked among their people and taught them about Faith in one almighty God, and how to walk on the path of righteousness.

All prophets, peace be upon them all, gave guidance and instruction to their people about how to properly worship God and live their lives. Since God is one, his message has been one and the same throughout time. In essence, all prophets taught the message of Islam - to find peace in your life through submission to the one almighty creator -- to believe in God and to follow his guidance.

The Quran identifies a number of men as prophets of Islam. Traditionally, five prophets are regarded as important in Islam: Nuh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus) and Muhammad. Such individuals are believed by Muslims to have been assigned a special mission by God to guide mankind. In the Quran, prophets such as Moses, Jesus and Muhammad are appointed to spread the word of Allah.

Each of these prophets is believed to have been instructed by God to warn his community against evil and urge his people to obey God; however, only some are believed to have been sent Holy books such as the Tawrat, Zabur, and Injil, and those prophets are considered "messengers". Of all the thousands of prophets, a tiny minority of these are believed to be messengers, or rasul. Only Muhammad is regarded as having undertaken a prophetic mission addressed to all of humanity rather than a specific populace.
